In order for an applicant to be considered for any scholarship, the applicant must have been a member of the Florida Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf in good standing for the past 2 years. The applicant must also agree to remain a member in good standing for the coming 2 years. Applicants for written tests must either have documentation verifying that they are already working interpreters or must provide documentation that they are in their final year of an Interpreter Training Program.
A candidate may only receive one written examination scholarship and one performance scholarship during their lifetime (they may receive one of each.) In order to apply for scholarships, applicants must include two letters from Nationally Certified Interpreters indicating the applicant’s readiness to sit for the examination. Furthermore, the applicant should submit a letter indicating what she/he has done to prepare for the examination. The application must be completed with all required items scanned and attached in an email with the application.
