    Conflicts are part of interpreting work-but handling them with cultural awareness and ethical grounding is key. This interactive workshop provides tools to navigate challenging interactions between interpreters, Deaf consumers, and teams.
    Through real-life scenarios, participants will explore the impact of power, privilege, and bias, and practice strategies for respectful communication, healthy boundaries, and culturally responsive conflict resolution.

    Learn about the 2023 updates to RID's Ethical Practices System-designed to strengthen accountability, protect consumers, and center Deaf voices.
    This workshop will explain the new policies, outline the grievance process, and clarify key terms like reports vs. complaints. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of how the EPS works and what the changes mean for interpreters and the community.

    This meeting is open for both members and non-members to attend.

    Please join FRID for our 2025 Annual General Membership Meeting (Annual Business Meeting – ABM) and help shape the direction of FRID for the coming year.

    The FRID Board of Directors invites all our members to the ABM, which will be held in a hybrid format on:

    Saturday, October 25, 2025
    9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. (tentative- It may end up being 10a-12p)
    Onsite: St. Petersburg College, 2465 Drew Street, Clearwater, FL (Room #ES 104)
    Online: Will receive the Zoom link once Registered

    During the meeting, Board members and Committee Chairs will give updates on the work they have been doing, members will receive a summary and reflection of FY 2024/2025, and the floor will be open for motions (submission form will be shared prior to the meeting). We will also announce the recipient of the 2025 Distinguished Service Award!

    Make a day of it! The ABM is scheduled to start just before It’s a Deaf Thing—a Deaf community expo happening onsite from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at St. Petersburg College.

    In addition, FRID is working to schedule CEU-bearing workshop(s) onsite and hybrid immediately following the ABM or later in the day. We hope to provide at least a 3-hour block of professional development opportunities.
